Monday Morning Meeting Notes (10/16/2023)

General Info:

  • U.S. consumer price index (CPI) data for September showed that inflation continues to remain sticky
  • CPI rose 0.4% month-over-month and 3.7% year-over-year (vs. expectations of 0.3% and 3.6%)
  • Core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, rose 0.3% month-over-month and 4.1% year-over-year (in-line with expectations)
  • Fun Fact: The Eiffel Tower was originally intended for Barcelona. The Spanish city thought it was too ugly, so Gustave Eiffel pitched it to Paris instead
  • MMM Notes will be on a three-week hiatus as I will be in Barcelona to further assess how ugly the Eiffel Tower would’ve been in their beautiful city
